Ls8 Pilots - screen burn - please check this out.
The video shows the circumstances causing the damage to the LX - 17.30 ish, sunny day, runway 26, canopy raised. The inside of the canopy acts like a magnifying glass with the sun behind the glider.

Last weekend, while we was waiting for permission to use Keevil for gliding, a few members went up to Aston Down for some soaring.

Glider pilots planned their cross country flying routes to ensure suitable airfields were available to land at along the route of required to eliminate any risk to landing on private land during the Covid conditions.

As RAFGSA Chairman I have been working with both the BGA and RAF Sports Federation this week to determine our route to return to Club flying and to try and assure the ISRGC in Aug. Whilst the RAF Sports Federation is extremely supportive and committed to helping us get back to operations there are three steps that need to be satisfied before any Club flying can resume:

Bannerdown to Host 2018 Inter-Services

Bannerdown Gliding Club will again host the Inter-Services Regional Gliding Competition in 2018 at Keevil.   This years competition runs from 4th to 12th August.  Details can be found on the competition site:

Bannerdown to Host 2017 Inter-Services

Club AGM

The annual AGM was held last night in Steeple Ashton Village Hall. The local pub, the Longs Arms, ensured the assembled club members were well fed and watered before the formalities began.

After the financial and club admin side had been dealt with the annual awards were presented.

Christmas Course Day 3

Xmas course day 3 Winching today. Well done to Mike Edwards on the exercises for his Gliding Aerobatics Badge. Well done to Neil Geraghty for his development of aerobatics. Once he learned to be “forceful” it went well. Not many candidates this year but three good days.

Christmas Course Day 2

What a day! R32, R12, R20, 840, BJ and R10 out flying.

Today’s success was Aden Jones completing his Bronze XC endorsement.

As for the wave. Wow. At one point we had all gliders between 6 and 11 thousand feet!

Bannerdown compete at the Junior Nationals

Well done to ‘Team Bannerdown’ that participated in flying alongside the junior Nationals at Aston Down last week.
